Information and Support for Families

There was an abundance of information available for families with young children in Elkins Park this weekend.

Despite the deluge of rain this past Saturday, many families braved the weather to attend the 3rd Annual Katie Elise Lambert Butterfly Safety Fair and Carnival. The Postpartum Stress Center was honored to be part and work along side other representatives of agencies who also strive to support and educate families. Having the opportunity to talk with mothers of all ages was touching and their sentiment is timeless:

“I wish you had been there 30 years ago. It was such a difficult time.”

“I am really worried about someone going through this right now.”

“I think all mothers struggle…some much more than others. We really need to know this kind of help is available.”

These are the reasons The Postpartum Stress Center has decided to participate in area health fairs as part of our Outreach Program. Mothers need to know that help is there for them. Research has shown support and education to be key factors in prevention of and recovery from postpartum mental health issues. It should never be underestimated.
