Another study (“The Role of omega-3 fatty acids for prevention or treatment of perinatal depression” by Borja-Hart and Marino at Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy, Fort Lauderdale) in favor of the use of omega-3 fatty acids period showed improved depression scores during pregnancy and the postpartum.

The use of omega-3 fatty acids is preferred because it has no adverse side effects and appears to be safe during pregnancy.
