Clinician Note: According to a study by Jack De Stefano and colleagues, clients attributed their positive experience in therapy to the counselor’s interpersonal qualities and skills. Although therapeutic techniques clearly played an important part, it appears that the therapist’s capacity for relationship and communication skills prevailed over any particular intervention.
Those of you who have taken our training, know this to be very true. 😉
The study further suggests that even novice therapists without years of experience can effectively connect with clients and make a difference.
